BEAULIEU CAMERA GROUP

EXHIBITION 2010 Votes

Winner

'Albatross with Flaps down for Landing' by Allan Orme

Our 13th Annual Exhibition closed this afternoon after attracting a NEW RECORD 476 visitors, just one more than last year. I had thought that we achieved 500 in 2009 but looking back I found that in fact we got just 475.

My thanks to all who helped. I think that everyone has enjoyed being there which has made the event very satisfying.

The voting this year left us with a clear winner of the Bob Grier Trophy for the most popular print on display . 'Albatross with Flaps down for Landing' by Allan Orme attracted 57 votes with Alan Price in second place with 'Frost Fired Gorse at Sunrise (30) and Jeff Pitman' Beach Huts' third with 27.

In the Intermediate section the winner was Jo Lock with 'I believe I can Fly' (9 votes) followed by her 'Silk Weaver - Vietnam' and David Forder's 'Summer Sparkle' with 8 votes.

Primary was won by Hilary Flaxman's 'Amazonian Playmates' with 8 votes followed by David Forder's 'Clamerkin Lake' (7) and 'Serious Business' (6).

Of the 110 prints on display all but 22 registered a vote.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks again to everyone for their help and cooperation.

'Iconic' images photography

Celebrate ‘iconic’ photographs of the New Forest National Park at the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst from Saturday 9 January to Monday 8 February.

The free exhibition organised by the New Forest National Park Authority and Forestry Commission will feature this year’s winners and runners-up of the fourth joint photography competition between the two organisations.

The theme ‘Iconic images of the New Forest National Park’ formed part of the national celebrations to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949.Budding photographers were given free rein on their subject matter and they certainly did not disappoint.

Martin O’Neill, Director of Information and Visitor Services at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘This year we received a record-breaking number of entries. The standard gets higher and higher every year. The winners showed a real understanding of the National Park’s special qualities. We can’t wait to put the photographs on display for everyone to enjoy.’

Winners received photographic vouchers as prizes and will see their winning photographs on display.

Outstanding Picture: Antony Norris ‘The long walk home’

Winner: Ben Freer ‘New Forest Dawn’

Best Mobile Phone entry: Gary Murphy ‘Roots’

Best Under-16 entry: Rebecca Dempsey ‘Out for a hack’
